Perfect Fit Ringsizing service

DiamondsByMe offers one resizing within 90 days of receipt. This voluntary service covers an alteration of up to two UK ring sizes larger or three UK ring sizes smaller, provided that DiamondsByMe considers the work technically appropriate.

For a ring with a band width of up to and including 3 mm, the resizing itself is free of charge. For a band wider than 3 mm, we may charge for the additional precious metal and work required. We provide any quotation before starting and proceed only after you accept it.

The cost and risk of insured shipping to DiamondsByMe and insured return shipping are borne by the customer. We provide the shipping and payment instructions beforehand.

Perfect Fit Ringsizing service conditions

A free resizing is generally available for:

  • rings with a band width up to and including 3 mm;
  • rings with sufficient plain metal at the bottom of the band; and
  • other rings which can be altered without adversely affecting the design, construction, settings, stones, engraving or finish.

We assess the appropriate method before working on:

  • bands wider than 3 mm;
  • pavé rings;
  • rings with stones extending far around the band;
  • two-colour or multi-metal bands;
  • rings with an engraving, fingerprint, continuous pattern or other personal treatment; and
  • unusually shaped or technically complex rings.

These categories are not automatically refused. We assess strength, shape, finish, settings and stones. Additional material or work may lead to a quotation.

The standard service does not cover cases where:

  • the ring must be wholly or partly remade;
  • a setting or significant structural component must be replaced;
  • extra gemstones or diamonds must be added;
  • the width or construction requires more than a limited amount of extra precious metal;
  • a continuous pattern, engraving or personal treatment must be recreated;
  • a full eternity ring must be altered;
  • the requested change exceeds two UK ring sizes larger or three UK ring sizes smaller;
  • the alteration would create an unacceptable technical risk to the construction, stones or settings; or
  • the ring has previously been altered or repaired by a third party.

In these cases, we discuss the options first. If another alteration or remaking is possible, we provide a quotation and proceed only after acceptance.

The Perfect Fit Ringsizing service is a voluntary additional service and does not mean that every ring can be changed to every requested size. It does not limit statutory rights where DiamondsByMe supplied a different size from the one ordered or the ring is faulty.
