Warranty and Defects

Limited Lifetime Warranty on Our Craftsmanship

We stand behind the quality of every piece of jewelry we make. We therefore provide a Limited Lifetime Warranty for demonstrable material and manufacturing defects. This written warranty is in addition to, and does not limit, rights available under applicable law.

Warranty, assessment and care

The warranty covers demonstrable defects in the material, construction or manufacture of jewelry made by DiamondsByMe. Our goldsmiths first examine the cause and condition before deciding whether the additional warranty applies.

Examples include:

  • • porosity or a weakness in precious metal caused during manufacture;
  • • a defective soldered or welded joint;
  • • a clasp or component which fails because of a manufacturing defect;
  • • a stone becoming loose because of a demonstrable original setting defect; or
  • • a departure from the agreed design, material or specification.

These examples are not exhaustive. Each claim is assessed on its circumstances.

Normal wear and tear, routine care and damage arising during wear or use are not automatically covered. Examples include scratches, wear to rhodium plating, worn claws, clasps or hinges, deformation caused by impact or crushing, and damage from chemicals, chlorine or cleaning products.

Loss, breakage or damage of a diamond or gemstone is not automatically a warranty defect. The cause must first be established.

Stop wearing the jewelry if a stone is loose, a setting appears damaged or the item is deformed. Continued wear may cause additional damage.

Where loosening, loss, breakage or damage occurs within one year of delivery, our goldsmiths assess whether it resulted from an original manufacturing or setting defect, fair wear and tear or external damage.

More than one year after delivery, loosening, loss, breakage or damage of a diamond or gemstone is excluded from the additional lifetime warranty. This does not restrict statutory rights where a demonstrable original fault existed at delivery.

This written warranty is governed by the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and applicable state law.

Depending on the written warranty and applicable state law, available remedies for a covered defect may include repair, replacement, refund or another legally required remedy.

State-law implied warranties may also apply. Their scope and duration vary by state and cannot be disclaimed or limited where federal or state law prohibits doing so.

These statutory rights apply independently of our additional lifetime warranty to the extent provided by applicable law.

  1. 1. Register the item through our service portal and include your order number.
  2. 2. Add clear photographs and a description where possible.
  3. 3. Wait for our shipping instructions before sending valuable jewelry.
  4. 4. After receipt, our goldsmiths physically examine the item and explain their findings and the proposed solution.

Photographs support an initial assessment, but a final technical conclusion may require physical inspection.

If a material or manufacturing defect is covered by this warranty or applicable federal or state law, we provide the appropriate remedy free of charge.

If the issue is fair wear and tear, maintenance or accidental damage, we may still be able to help. Any chargeable work is undertaken only after you accept our advice and quotation.

Where the cause cannot immediately be established, we explain our findings and possible next steps.

Engraving, repair, resizing, polishing, setting or other alteration by a third party may affect our additional warranty and technical assessment.

It does not automatically remove statutory rights. We are not responsible to the extent the reported issue was caused by the third-party work or can no longer be reliably assessed because of it. Please contact us before instructing someone else where you suspect a fault.

Our goldsmiths can often help even where work is not covered. We provide advice and any quotation before carrying out paid work.

We recommend that regularly worn jewelry is professionally checked at least once a year and after a hard impact. Failure to arrange a check affects the additional warranty only for damage which timely inspection would probably have identified or prevented. Statutory rights remain.

Avoid wearing jewelry during strenuous work, sport, cleaning with aggressive products, or activities involving impact, crushing or deformation.
